2010/2011 Cruise
Monday, April 18, 2011, Day 204. The trip from Marsh Harbour to Fishers Bay, Great Guana Cay was short -- 9 nm, one and a half hours. We had planned to anchor just outside the harbor entrance for easier dinghy access, but the bottom was very grassy and it seemed a little deep, meaning we’d have to use a lot of rode and need a lot of swinging room. We went around the corner and anchored in Fishers Bay, which as it turns out, has its own dinghy dock at Grabbers. We stayed aboard and read in the afternoon. According to the travel guides, Great Guana Cay offers miles of exceptionally attractive wide ocean beach with excellent snorkeling reefs. High bluffs mark the eastern edge of the island providing an excellent ocean view.

Later Jim and Susan joined us aboard Escapade for cocktails and dessert -- a wonderful Key Lime Pie that Susan made. We watched a huge forest fire on Great Abaco Island near Treasure Cay, which must involve thousand of acres.
Jim and Susan are headed north from here. They plan to make several stops in the Abacos before crossing back to Ft. Pierce. They will leave Blackthorn in St. Marys for the summer.
