2010/2011 Cruise

Sunday, April 3, 2011, Day 189. It was a lazy day. Gail and Linda played Jotto, read, talked and made a chicken Ceasar salad for lunch. In the afternoon, we took hike (about 3 miles) to the Atlantic beach and enjoyed a bit of shelling. We met folks on the beach from Next Exit, who had eaten at a beach restaurant we’ll have to check out. Back on Escapade, we listened to the Sunday news shows. Linda and Gail made a wonderful surf and turf dinner with corn pudding that didn’t completely “pudd.” Ray filed his flight plan and got flight clearances for their return tomorrow.
Monday, April 4, 2011, Day 190. Another laid back day. We saw Gail and Ray off in the morning and did some grocery shopping. We’ll miss their company. The wind picked up in the afternoon. We were very comfortable aboard Escapade but knew that we would get very wet in the dinghy. Rock Sound is well-protected and a great place to wait out these sequential cold fronts. We spent a fair amount of time looking at the various boaters’ weather websites. Tomorrow does not appear to be a good day to travel, Wednesday is iffy, Thursday through Sunday look great. Linda also started to investigate stateside marinas and areas in Florida for our real estate search later this spring.
Jim and Susan (Blackthorn) joined us aboard Escapade for sundowners. They’re a fun couple.
Tuesday, April 5, 2011, Day 191. The wind was strong from the south all day. We stayed aboard and amused ourselves with dominos, reading, and taxes. Linda filed ours and began her mom’s. We are anxious to leave, but Thursday and Friday look like the best weather window, so we’ll stick around until Thursday morning.
Wednesday, April 6, 2011, Day 192. The wind was light in the morning, but, as predicted, it picked-up in the afternoon. We went to lunch at Four Points Restaurant. A cruise ship (Princess Lines) was in at a nearby resort, and fifty or so passengers took a bus trip to the restaurant. In addition to the good food, we were treated to music, a conch-salad-making demonstration, and a Junkanoo parade staged for the cruise ship passengers. Our waiters even put on Bahamian shirts over their tee-shirts to dress up. We really enjoyed the people-watching and, once again, we were glad that we were on our own vessel. Unfortunately, we missed this great photo op, not having brought a camera to the restaurant.
